Apache Lance, Franciscan Cross by Dr. Florence Byham Weinberg is a finalist in two categories for the 2007 New Mexico Book Awards contest, Historical Fiction and Best Book on Southwest. The entries in the New Mexico Book Awards were judged by a distinguished panel of scholars, booksellers, and librarians.
Author Celia Leaman, will be hosting two informal workshops for writers
and readers, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the South Delta, and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ladner branches of the Fraser Valley Regional Library in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. To register for these free events, simply call the library of your choice.
Apache Lance, Franciscan Cross by Dr. Florence Byham Weinberg has been selected as a 2006 WILLA Literary Award finalist in the category of historical fiction. The WILLA Literary Awards are chosen by a distinguished panel of twenty-one professional librarians.
Apache Lance, Franciscan Cross by Dr. Florence Byham Weinberg has also been selected as the featured book for the Las Misiones Capital Campaign. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Apache Lance, Franciscan Cross will be donated to the restoration and preservation of San Antonio's five historical Franciscan missions (established between 1718 and 1731). Beverly Stowe McClure, author of YA suspense novel Listen to the Ghost will be giving talks on the world of publishing in Wichita Falls, Texas. Readers, writers, young people and grown-ups are invited.
Cynthia Ward, author of Sometimes There's a Dove, will be giving talks in Mississippi about obtaining her diploma, becoming a published author and book reviewer while learning to cope with Dyslexia.
